CHAPTER FOUR: Dominick and Allie
"My Lady," the boy said. "I haven't introduced myself properly. My name is Dominick Thorne. As I live and breathe, I promise to be the ultimate gentleman. Won't you join me inside the abode?" Allie couldn't help but smile, and follow him through the door.
Allie found Dominick's home to be unlike any other she'd seen. The walls, the floors, the furniture...everything was tattered and old, but somehow it all worked. The home had a nice feeling to it, a calmness Allie found refreshing. "Allie," said the boy she now knew as Dominick. He gestured toward the other boy, the one who'd been driving the car. "This is Robert, the owner of our fine rescue chariot. Everyone calls him Raven. You must be starved. Robert's going to make some mac and cheese while I go get cleaned up. Why don't you have a seat and rest for a minute."
Allie did as instructed and laid on the couch, where she fell instantly asleep. Soon, though, the warm smell of pasta brought her back to awareness. Then Dominick was there, again, helping her up, walking her to a chair at the table, rescuing her again and again.
Allie gulped down her first bowl and gratefully accepted another. The macaroni was the first hot meal she'd had in weeks. When her stomach finally felt full, she glanced up embarassed at how fast she'd eaten.
In looking up she felt the twinges of something she figured must be...lust? Or something more. Allie didn't want to think about it, but she found it hard to take her eyes off Dominick. Devoid of his makeup, and now wearing casual clothes, he looked so kind, so approachable...and so devestatingly handsome.
Dominick, too, didn't know what to do with these feelings he was experiencing. This girl, this dirty tattered girl was the prettiest, sweetest person he'd ever seen. He'd found her, and now he never wanted to be without her again.
Sucking in a breath, Dominick spoke, "Allie, when you're done eating we should really get you cleaned up. Why don't you go take a shower and I'll find you something to sleep in."
Allie did as instructed, savoring the hot water as she showered. She applied ointment and bandages to her cuts, and put on some clothes that Dominick, true to his word, had laid out for her. When she was ready for bed, she hesitantly headed to Dominick's bedroom.
Now it was her turn to gasp. Dominick was the most gorgeous man she'd ever seen. It's a good thing he's sleeping on the couch, she thought, or I might do something I'd regret.
